When the weather finally started to warm up this year my husband and I looked at our back patio and realized it needed a serious refresh. We had almost 10-year-old patio furniture from my parents and a random barrel table we had picked up on FB marketplace two years ago (that was now nicely falling apart). There are some issues that can come up with all of these, especially since they will be outdoors and exposed to the elements. With wood it will begin to decay over time and will need to be re-stained or repainted almost yearly. Plastic withstands the elements well but can look very cheap. Metal gets hot outside and the finish will eventually get scratched and can peel. With wicker it will eventually begin to unravel.
That being said, I definitely believe wicker furniture is the way to go for your patio! Yes, at some point it may begin to unravel, but my parent’s set was 8 years old before that finally happened. And even when it does start to unravel a bit, it will only be in small spots and not the entire piece of furniture. Wicker furniture is also completely weather resistant and will not be damaged by water or the sun. It is also extremely low maintenance since it can easily be hosed down or wiped clean.
Another reason I love wicker furniture is because of how light and airy it is. Perfect to bring a breath of fresh air to an outdoor OR indoor space. Wicker furniture also looks great indoors!
