We FINALLY have some fall weather here in TN and I am LOVING IT!!! I’ve been done with the heat and waiting for fall to arrive since August! Knowing TN the temp will go right back up to 80 in a week, but for now I’m soaking up all the gorgeous fall temps while I can! 🙂
So, I grew up in Michigan and there was a pretty strict rule (according to my mother and grandmother), that I was not allowed to wear white pants after Labor Day. Labor Day was the unofficial end of summer up North: no more grilling, pool days, or white pants after that first weekend in September.
Fast forward to today, I think it is totally acceptable to wear white pants after Labor Day!! There are so many great ways to style them for fall. So, even though I say I think it’s fine to wear them into the fall, I think there are certain ways you should style them to make sure your look is fall season appropriate and not still hanging onto summer time.

With a Chunky Neutral or Deep Colored Sweater

I LOVE a good chunky sweater for fall and this one from goodnight macaroon is SO dang cute!! I think pairing a chunkier sweater helps balance out all of the white in the pants.
I think it looks even better if you have a darker sweater because you get a better contrast between it and the pants. i say dark sweater because pairing your white pants with a lighter or pastel sweater will look more like spring / summer and less like fall.
It also helps to wear longer boots, like I have on here or over-the-knee, because it helps to break-up the white.
With a Dark Thermal / Henley Top

These thermal / henley tops have been SO popular this fall! They come in so many colors and are perfect to pair with your white pants this season!
Typically in the summer I pair more fitted tops with my white pants, and this shirt is the opposite of that. They are nice and loose / flowy, so that combined with the darker color really helps to bring your white pants into the fall season.
With a Flannel Shirt that has White in It

I would say that at least 75% of flannel / plaid shirts I’ve seen have a little bit of white in them, so they are perfect to pair with your white pants this fall! The flannel shirt very obviously says fall and the white in them compliments the white pants really well. I recommend pairing it with a darker boot or bootie to balance out the white in the top and pants.

Who says you can’t rock all white after labor day?! I love an all-white look because it’s classic and stylish, and you can definitely bring it into fall by adding a pretty neutral cardigan and accessories! I paired the outfit with my nude strappy heels and camel hat to complete the look.
