Hello and welcome to The Petite Mrs blog! My name is Amanda Rains and I am your typical 25-year-old working girl. I am married as of 9-23-17 to my wonderful husband Chris and mommy to my dog (fur-baby) Shadow. I have a corporate job that I really enjoy, but I felt like I was missing something, which is why I started this blog. I absolutely love fashion and beauty but never dedicated the time or money to it, something I have been working on lately.
Clothes. I LOVE clothes. And shoes. And purses.. the list goes on. Even though my love for fashion is strong, my husband and I are trying to build long-term wealth so I am always looking for items that are both stylish and affordable. I know there are many other people out there on a budget as well, so I hope I can help some people find what they are looking for at a good price!
I can’t say that I have ALWAYS loved fashion because, up until I was in high school, I pretty much let my mom buy clothes for me. Once I hit high school I did put a little more effort in, but it took me until college to really start defining my style. Of course as a college student I didn’t have the money to spend on new clothes so my closet was limited. Once I graduated and obtained my ‘big girl job’ I did start investing more into my clothes and really honing in on my particular style. Now I am at that lovely point where I have to set monthly budgets for myself because I always want to shop.
I definitely have a more ‘girly style’. If there are ruffles, bows, lace, pink, etc. there’s a good chance I’m going to love it. That doesn’t mean that’s all I have in my closet! I love comfortable but chic outfits and I’m more into bold colors than crazy prints. I absolutely LOVE shoes and I have a large collection thanks to my fashionable Sito (Grandma in Lebanese) who has gifted me a large chunk of her amazing shoe collection over the years.
Honesty Time: I am a total beginner when it comes to beauty. That being said, I’ve finally got my basics down and am now constantly trying new things, so I figure that someone out there might benefit from me posting about my beauty adventures (both fails and wins).
Hair… I have naturally curly hair that has only become more curly over the years. Hopefully I can give some advice to my fellow curly-headed ladies and learn from others as well through this experience. I am always trying new products on my hair, many of them end up not working but I have found a few good ones I consider my go-to’s. Curly hair can be hard to manage but super fun at the same time (hello natural volume). Even though I have natural curls, I often try new styles as well.
My other passion is home décor. We bought our first house about a year and a half ago so I am constantly picking up new finds to decorate, much to my husband’s dismay (if it were up to him we wouldn’t have any decorations in the house). I am definitely into the ‘southern chic’ décor and can’t wait to share my home design with everyone.
