Living in Tennessee it’s typically still in the 80s and sometimes even 90s well into October. So even though I’m ready for fall and all things sweaters and flannel, the weather isn’t 🙂 That means I end up wearing a lot of my summer pieces well into the first month or so of fall (and September because, lets be real, on 9/1 I enter fall mode).

So in today’s post I wanted to share my favorite pieces to transition into fall. Sharing a lot of my favorite summer pieces that can easily be worn into the fall season. Lots of pieces that give that fall feel but are great for warmer weather!

Add a Wide-brim Hat & Booties

Honestly the easiest one I’m going to share, just add a wide-brim hat + ankle booties to pretty much any summer outfit to bring it into fall! I do this with summer tops & shorts and with a lot of my summer dresses.

Lace Kimono

Neutral Tone / Darker Mules

Sharing two in this one. First, one of my favorite items to wear pretty much every season is a lace kimono. I wear it in the spring with pastels and lighter jeans, with shorts + as a swim cover-up in the summer, and with darker jeans in the fall. Super versatile and one of my closet must-haves!

I also own a lot of mules in nuetral or darker brown tones because they look cute in the summer with shorts & dresses and can easily be worn in the fall with jeans and sweaters.

Favorite Mules

Kimonos

Even though the lace one is especially my favorite, I think all kimonos are great for fall! They give a layered look but aren’t heavy, and they can easily be worn with tanks and shorts when it’s still hot out.

Spanx Faux Leather Leggings

I love love LOVE my Spanx Faux Leather Leggings! I wear them so much all fall and winter. My favorite thing about them is how versatile they are. You can style them SO many different ways! That’s why they are a great transition piece, you can pair them with lighter items when it’s still warm out and heavier items / more layers as it gets cooler out.

Pair Tall / Over-the-Knee Boots with your Favorite Summer Dresses

Super easy way to bring your summer dresses into fall! I like to pair my more summery dresses with brown / tan tall boots to help give them that fall feel.

Button-Up Shirts / Flannel Shirts

When it’s still warmer out, the light-weight button-up shirts are great to pair with shorts! I like to get ones that have a cute stripe / plaid print to give a fall look without being too heavy / warm. Once it gets cooler I’ll pair the button-ups with darker denim and tall boots.

Flannel shirts are also an amazing staple piece and you can still wear them tied loosely around your waist when it’s warm out. A great way to get that fall look without getting overheated. Flannels can be paired with shorts, jeans, dresses.. all the things!

Both button-up tops & flannel shirts are super versatile and can be styled so many different ways!

Sweaters with Shorts

When it’s cool enough to wear sweaters but still a little warm in the sun.. pair your favorite sweaters with your summer shorts! Add a hat & ankle bootie to complete your fall look.

Darker / Neutral Tone Maxi Dresses

Another great summer item you can easily carry into fall is the maxi dress! Any darker or brown / neutral tone maxi dress can easily be turned into a fall look with some booties! Add a wide-brim hat to complete the look. You can also layer with other items like denim jackets, chambray tops, and flannel as it gets cooler out.

Sweaters with White Jeans

I know the rule is ‘no white after labor day’, but I will gladly break that one! I love pairing my favorite sweaters with my white denim in the fall. I think it looks best when you pair white jeans with bold, colorful sweaters!

Sweater Tanks

Last but not least, sweater tanks are a great fall transition piece! They give that fall look with the sweater material and are comfortable to wear when it’s still warm out.
