Not gonna lie, I’ve been super excited to write this post for a while now, I just couldn’t find the time to take all of the pictures for it! My husband and I were going to take them before our vacation a few weeks ago and as we were about to walk out the door I looked up (for who know’s what reason) and I saw a bunch of huge water spots on the ceiling.
Well.. turns out we had a leak coming from upstairs, so needless to say we did NOT end up taking pictures that day. Then it rained for a week straight after vacation.. BUT I finally had the time this past week to take all of them!! 🙂
Anywho.. enough about my home improvement projects, in this post I’m sharing a TON of ways to style a flannel shirt this fall! I love doing posts like this because it shows you really don’t have to break the bank to look cute and fashionable. I love finding new ways to wear the same pieces / mix and match them.

1.) Normal with Boots

Hands down, easiest way to wear a flannel shirt: just wear it! Lol
I also love pairing it with over-the-knee boots because they slim your legs, and since the flannel shirts can be a bit baggy this helps balance everything out.
Since this outfit is pretty simple I also threw on a cute felt hat to dress it up a bit!
2.) Open & Paired with your Favorite Tee

This is another super easy way to wear a flannel shirt, just leave it unbuttoned and paired with your favorite tee underneath!
I wanted to pull out the white in the shirt here, but it would also look really cute paired with a burgundy, orange, or brown for fall. You could also pair it with your favorite graphic t-shirt!
3.) Tied Around your Waist w/Jeans and Boots

This look is one of my favorites! This one is especially good for all my ladies who live in warmer climates, because you still get the cute fall-look but without having to actually wear the flannel shirt when it’s still 85 degrees outside.
I also like this look because it’s the best of both worlds in terms of mixing dressier and casual styles.
4.) Tied Around your Waist w/Leggings and Sneakers

This is my perfect casual weekend look! It’s obviously super similar to the last look 🙂 , but takes a more casual approach by dressing it down with leggings and tennis shoes.
You can pair it with any of your favorite leggings, but I chose to pair it with my faux leather leggings to dress it up just a tad!

Another fun way to play with dressy and casual styles! This is the perfect on-the-go look, so perfect for all you mamas out there! 🙂
I like this look because it’s super comfortable and easy to put together, but also dressy enough to run around town in and maybe meet my girlfriends for lunch.
7.) With a Vest

I love this one because it lets you play with texture and mix & match different patterns!
You can easily take a simple flannel (like my black and white one) and pair it with a colorful vest, or do the opposite and pair a colorful flannel shirt with a neutral vest.
It’s also perfect for those colder days where you don’t want to break out the winter jacket yet! The combination of the flannel shirt and vest is super warm!
8.) With a Cardigan

I know we all typically own at least one cozy cardigan for fall (and if you’re like me then you have a nice little collection of 15 or 20..)!
Another super easy look is to layer your favorite cardi over a flannel shirt and roll the flannel over the sleeve of the cardigan.
9.) Tied in the Front

Since flannel shirts can be pretty baggy sometimes, I like to roll the shirt underneath until it’s at my waist and then knot it in the front. I think it’s super stylish and really helps to define your waist!
This look also looks equally as cute paired with shorts instead of jeans, so perfect for my fellow southern girls.
10.) Tied Over a T-Shirt Dress

You know I said I love to find new ways to style my clothes, and this is the perfect way to bring your summer t-shirt dresses into fall! Just like the previous look, this one also defines your waist really well!
When my husband saw my style it this way he told me he would have never thought to do that, but it looked really cute! So.. this look is husband approved 🙂
11.) Wrapped Around a Nicer Dress

I’ve actually worn this little dress to work multiple times with heels and I thought this was a fun way to dress it down for the weekend!
This look is perfect for running around town or going on a casual date night.
